Creative Europe is the European Union's Programme for the creative, cultural and audiovisual sectors in Europe and beyond.

The general objectives of the Programme are:

• to safeguard, develop, and promote European cultural and linguistic diversity and heritage;
• to increase the competitiveness and the economic potential of the cultural and creative sectors.

The Culture strand of the programme helps cultural and creative organizations work across borders, boosting the visibility of European artistic and cultural works and enabling professionals to collaborate and co-create. It also strengthens the cultural and creative sectors by helping talent grow, driving innovation, and creating jobs.

Through its various funding schemes, Creative Europe contributes to strengthening the independence, creativity, diversity, and competitiveness of the book and publishing sector in the Creative Europe countries. It supports literary professionals, promotes circulation of literary works, develops readership, encourages and safeguards linguistic diversity, and defends the freedom of expression and the democratic values of the European Union.
