Croatia
book&zvook is Croatia's first audiobook publisher and platform. Founded in Zagreb in 2018, we have produced more than 170 original audiobooks and publish a catalogue of over 200 titles in Croatian and neighbouring languages, alongside a curated English edition bringing the best of local literature to a global audience: from twentieth-century titan Miroslav Krleža to Kristian Novak, Robert Perišić, Jurica Pavičić, Magdalena Blažević and the poet Monika Herceg.
We are vertically integrated: we commission and record in our own Zagreb studio, publish through our own iOS and Android app and web shop, supply the Croatian public library network, and distribute internationally through Audible and Spiracle. Around 100,000 people have used the app since launch, 35,000 of them in the past year, a third of them outside Croatia. Our catalogue is at bookzvook.com, and the English-language edition at listentocroatia.bookzvook.com.
We work with the country's best actors and composers, and we cast for place: dialect and microdialect are treated as part of the text, not as decoration. Our full-cast dramatisation of Kristian Novak's Slučaj vlastite pogibelji — fourteen actors, directed by Dario Harjaček, with an original score — is shortlisted for the NY Festivals Awards 2026. We founded AudioLiber, Croatia's own audiobook fair, and we have twice won the Croatian MIXX Award for best campaign, in 2024 and 2025.
book&zvook was founded by Ljubica Letinić, an award-winning journalist and long-time editor at Croatian Radio's Third Programme, and by Lana Deban, an award-winning sound engineer for radio drama. The house comes out of two radio traditions, drama and documentary, and both are audible across the catalogue.
