About

As part of the Frankfurt International Book Fair 2026 and the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Italian Cultural Institute of Cologne is organizing a literary meeting with Paulina Spiechowicz on October 9 at 7:00 PM at the Deutsch-Italienische Vereinigung, Arndtstr. 12, Frankfurt. During the evening, the author will present her novel Mentre tutto brucia (Nutrimenti, 2025) in conversation with Paola Barbon.

Paulina Spiechowicz, born in Kraków in 1983, arrived in Italy at the age of four. She lives in Roma, where she works as a journalist. In 2025 she received the Viareggio – Versilia International Prize, thus entering the prestigious group of authors that includes, among others, Günter Grass and Abraham B. Yehoshua.

Paola Barbon, originally from Milan, lives and works between Münster and her hometown. After working for many years as an Italian lector at the Ruhr University Bochum, she is now active as a moderator, dramaturg, translator, and interpreter.

Wenn alles brennt, Folio Verlag, 2026, German translation by Ingrid Ickler (orig. Ital.: Mentre tutto brucia, Nutrimenti, 2025).

With simultaneous translation. Free admission.
