Ichitaro will kick off the Cosplay Contest with the powerful sound of his taiko drum, before the competition itself begins!

Have you always wanted to take the stage with your cosplay at a major event? Then the Matsuri Stage Cosplay Contest is your chance! Show the jury and the audience what you’ve got – either on your own or together with one other person.

For us, it’s not about presenting the most expensive or technically perfect costume. What matters are performance, overall impression, appearance and, above all, having fun on stage. You have a maximum of two minutes to make our jury laugh, marvel or perhaps even shed a tear – and to bring your favourite character to life.

Audio files may be used for your performance. Music can also be submitted after registration, but it must be provided as an MP3 file. Two microphones will be available on stage; headsets cannot be provided.

Registration: Send your application by email to cosplay@main-matsuri.com with the subject line “Matsuri Stage Cosplay Contest – Registration” and include the following information:

• Cosplay name
• First name and surname
• Name of the character you are portraying
• Series, manga, anime, game, book or other source material
• A short description of the character and/or your performance
• A reference image clearly showing the exact outfit you intend to present on stage

Please observe the applicable Matsuri Stage cosplay and safety rules regarding costumes, props and replica weapons. Real weapons, sharp or dangerous objects, certain replica weapons and any items that could endanger other visitors are not permitted. Staged fights outside the stage area are also prohibited. Costumes must also be suitable for an event attended by families and children.

But our most important motto remains: We’re not looking for perfection – we want to see your creativity, your passion and, above all, how much fun you have with cosplay!
