You read only with your eyes—it really depends!

Braille is read with the fingers: It’s tactile and based on a 6-dot system that celebrated its 200th anniversary last year. For two centuries, this writing system has enabled blind and visually impaired people to access texts and knowledge—a milestone for participation and inclusion.

During a reading of the children’s book "Der fliegende Klassenscooter" by Andreas Hüging and Angelika Niestrath, with illustrations by Timo Grubing, 2026, visitors are invited to follow Petrine Waagö (Team Leader at DIALOGMUSEUM) as she reads in Braille.

Following the reading, a hands-on workshop will playfully explain how tactile reading works, what Braille means for blind people, and how this writing system relates to inclusion.
