About

Open access publishing through Springer Nature's Transformative Agreements grew 12% in 2025, with more than half of all TA-funded articles published in the last three years alone. Whilst debates say momentum is slow, data shows continued acceleration. Acceleration being driven by regionally adapted approaches - so what can we learn from the markets helping drive that acceleration?

Drawing on more than a decade of experience supporting OA transitions across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, this session explores the lessons emerging from some of the world's most established and fastest-growing OA communities. Using examples from Malaysia, Japan and Europe, speakers will examine what has helped accelerate participation in OA, how approaches have evolved in response to local needs, and what the evidence tells us about enabling sustainable growth at scale.
