Cross-industry collaboration is often discussed in broad terms, but how do publishers, game studios, screen producers, animators and other creative professionals actually begin working together?
This session explores rapid prototyping as a practical method for turning cross-industry interest into concrete collaboration. Drawing on Helsinki Film Lab’s experience with transmedia game jams, curated matchmaking and IP development formats, Alisha Hasan will examine how multidisciplinary teams can quickly explore the potential of a storyworld.
The session will look at what happens when participants move beyond pitching and begin making something together: how teams translate between different industry languages, identify the most promising elements of an IP, test adaptation ideas and discover unexpected creative and commercial possibilities. It will also share practical lessons on designing short, structured prototyping formats that help rights holders and creative partners build trust, clarify roles and determine whether a collaboration is worth developing further.
Rather than treating rapid prototypes as finished products, the session presents them as tools for shared learning, helping creative industries understand one another through the act of making.
The session offers an honest, practical look at what has worked, what has required adjustment and what HFL is learning about designing better conditions for collaboration across creative industries.
