At the end of the 19th century, Gioconda Cattaneo, a Neapolitan aristocrat who has come to Mexico to marry, dies under mysterious circumstances in the ancient mill she has grown to love. Her spirit becomes trapped in a limbo inhabited only by suicides, yet she has no memory of taking her own life. Convinced she was murdered, she tries to influence the fate of those she loved from within the mill's walls-until, a century later, a young architect unwittingly helps her uncover the truth she has spent a hundred years refusing to remember.
