Despite the strength of its writing, Ukrainian literature remains underrepresented in the Anglophone market, where translated literature as a whole still holds only a narrow foothold. This panel brings together Emma Shercliff, literary agent at Laxfield Literary Associates; Ruth Weiner, publisher at Seven Stories Press; and Buzz Poole, publisher at Sandorf Passage — moderated by Kateryna Kazimirova, Head of Literature at Razom for Ukraine. Together they'll unpack how the Anglophone publishing industry actually works: what publishers are looking for, where translated literature fits within it, the roles agents, translators, and editors play in getting a book across, and what it will take for more Ukrainian authors to find publishers and readers abroad.
