Academic Publishing in Times of War: Supporting Science Community
Friday, 9 October at 11.00am, Innovation Stage
This event will explore the resilience of the academic publishing community from three interrelated perspectives: publishing during armed conflict, post-war recovery, and the critical role of international associations in sustaining scholarly communication and rebuilding network capacity.
Featuring short case studies and expert commentary from the European Association of Science Editors (EASE), alongside voices from the Ukrainian and Croatian communities, the session examines how editorial networks respond to the challenges of geopolitical conflict and post-war reconstruction, and how they can develop strategies to maintain research integrity and support scholarly communication in challenging circumstances.
Key themes include editorial neutrality, cross-border collaboration, and the long-term impact of crises on publishing ecosystems. The event is organized by EASE, highlighting the power of professional frameworks in fostering editorial leadership and international solidarity.
