About
For much of its history, scholarly publishing bundled together the research record, the context needed to interpret it, and the communities that produced and evaluated it. AI is beginning to pull those functions apart. This talk explores the implications of that unbundling, with particular attention to the role of community and human judgment, and asks what publishers should seek to own, enable or partner around in the emerging research ecosystem.
Speaker: Ben Kaube
Ben Kaube is the co-founder of Cassyni, a platform helping researchers and publishers build scholarly communities around research seminars and video. Previously, he founded Kopernio, which improved access to research papers and was acquired by Clarivate, and Newsflo, which helped researchers demonstrate the wider impact of their work and was acquired by Elsevier. Ben holds a PhD in physics from Imperial College London and was named to the Forbes “30 Under 30” list for Science and Healthcare in 2020.
