About

A city is both home and elsewhere. This dialogue brings together two young women writers — one from China, one from Germany — to speak about how they see, live in, and write the city. Neither is drawn to landmarks or glittering streets. Their eyes rest on what is easy to miss: a narrow lane, a stairwell, a stall at the market, a window lit late at night. Beneath the stories they tell runs a quiet current. The city, for them, is not a stage for human drama. It is a medium — with its own pulse, its own layers of memory, its own way of quietly holding together the lives that pass through it. Publisher Peng Lun will join the conversation, bringing a cross-cultural perspective to two very different ways of telling the city.

ps: The event will be conducted in both Chinese and English
