For seventeen years, a devastating war has been raging—one that no one is meant to win. The ambitious strategist Lycon is on the verge of revealing the true reason behind it.
Three powerful nations are vying for the precious mineral Syncanite: the source of crystal-powered devices and the key to unnaturally long life. In the seat of power in Rhiel, Lycon meets Kara, the ruler’s daughter—a celebrated duelist who prefers her relic weapon to the luxurious life of the court.
As the fragile Alliance of the South threatens to crumble, a delicate mission takes the two far beyond the borders of their homeland. But soon they find themselves entangled in a game where nothing is certain. What secrets will be revealed when it becomes clear that the threads of this power struggle run deeper than the war itself?
